How it works

1.Open the Stocks tab
Tesla, Micron, the QQQ ETF and more, priced in dollars. Heads up: the “Pre-IPO” ones aren't shares in those companies.

2.Pick the stock you want
Tap a stock to see its chart, then hit the green button to trade. Check for the badge next to the name so you get the real token, not a lookalike.

3.Buy with USDC
No crypto yet? Tap Deposit and top up with Apple Pay (Apple Card works too) or a debit or credit card. The fee shows before you hit Submit — 0.40% with a referral code.

Crypto rules in Tanzania
The rules aren't settled. The Bank of Tanzania's published position says trading and using crypto breaks the law, but in December 2024 the High Court's Yellow Card ruling found no law that expressly bans it.
In July 2026 the central bank said it had sent a draft framework for regulating virtual assets to the Ministry of Finance. Nothing is in force yet.
Money and tax in Tanzania
Local currency: Tanzanian shilling (TZS). Card and Apple Pay top-ups are converted to USDC, so your card provider may add a currency conversion fee.
Paying and sending money abroad: The Bank of Tanzania says its foreign-exchange rules don't cover trading or using virtual currency.
Tax: Tanzania's Income Tax Act (2025 edition) counts crypto as a digital asset and requires exchange platforms that pay residents to withhold tax on the full value of a transfer, not just the profit.
What you're actually buying
A token that tracks a real US share 1:1. The issuer holds the actual shares; you hold the token. Price moves and reinvested dividends, yes. Voting rights and a seat at the shareholder meeting, no.

Questions people ask
Did the Yellow Card court case make crypto legal in Tanzania?
Not fully. The court found no law expressly banning it in that case, but the Bank of Tanzania's own position is still that crypto use breaks the law.
Is Tanzanian crypto tax only on my profit?
The withholding rule in the Income Tax Act is based on the full value of the transfer, not just the profit.
Are tokenized US stocks legal in Tanzania?
Honestly, it depends on the product and on Tanzania's own rules for securities, crypto and moving money abroad. We haven't finished checking Tanzania yet, so we're not making a legal call. The regulator linked on this page is the best place to check.
Do I own the actual shares?
Usually not directly. With xStocks, the issuer holds the real shares and you hold a token that tracks them. Other products work differently — some are just contracts tracking the price. Voting rights and cash dividends are normally not included.
Can I use a VPN if an app blocks Tanzania?
Please don't. Getting around location blocks, sanctions or ID checks breaks the app's rules, can get your money frozen, and may be illegal.
