Understanding Tokenized Stock Fees

Spreads, trading fees, network costs and redemption charges: a framework for comparing the real cost of tokenized stocks.

By StockAccess Editorial TeamPublished 5 min read

The main fee types

  • Spread: the gap between buy and sell prices, often wider outside US market hours.
  • Trading commission: a percentage or flat fee per trade.
  • Network (gas) fees: paid to move tokens on a blockchain.
  • Deposit and withdrawal fees, including card or bank charges.
  • Currency conversion into US dollars or stablecoins.
  • Minting or redemption fees, usually for institutional participants.

How to compare fairly

Model a realistic round trip: deposit, buy, hold, sell and withdraw. Add every fee along the way and express it as a percentage of the amount invested. A platform with zero commission can still be expensive if its spreads are wide.
