Money and tax in Iran
Local currency: Iranian rial (IRR).
Paying and sending money abroad: US sanctions generally stop US firms providing services to people in Iran, so there's no normal route to a US broker.
Tax: Iran's 2025 Speculation and Hoarding Tax Law makes gains from selling crypto taxable, according to the parliament's research centre. Rates and start dates aren't clear yet.

More on how tokenized stocks workGood to know in Iran
- Iran is under comprehensive international sanctions, so international tokenized stock apps don't accept people living there. xStocks and Ondo tokens aren't offered there either.
- Please don't use a VPN or someone else's account to get around this. It breaks the rules and your money could be frozen.
- Pump.fun's Terms of Use list Iran as a Prohibited Jurisdiction (checked 22 October 2026), so it isn't listed here.
- Gains may be taxable. A local tax adviser can tell you how.

Questions people ask
Can I buy as much USDT as I like in Iran?
No. The central bank's September 2025 decision limits how much stablecoin each verified user can buy and hold.
Can a relative abroad send me money to buy US stocks?
Sanctions rules on personal money transfers are not permission to invest. Don't treat a family transfer as a way to open a brokerage account.
Are tokenized US stocks legal in Iran?
Honestly, it depends on the product and on Iran's own rules for securities, crypto and moving money abroad. We haven't finished checking Iran yet, so we're not making a legal call. The regulator linked on this page is the best place to check.
Do I own the actual shares?
Usually not directly. With xStocks, the issuer holds the real shares and you hold a token that tracks them. Other products work differently — some are just contracts tracking the price. Voting rights and cash dividends are normally not included.
Can I use a VPN if an app blocks Iran?
Please don't. Getting around location blocks, sanctions or ID checks breaks the app's rules, can get your money frozen, and may be illegal.
